Three months of patient
listening to light.
Aline began Crimson Whisper in the weeks after her grandmother's passing. The piece wasn't planned — it came from a quiet need to hold onto the mornings they spent together, watching light move across the hills of Musanze.
Over three months she layered earth-toned oils, sometimes wiping back entire sessions, searching for the exact warmth of her grandmother's kitchen at 6am. The pigments are mostly local — iron oxides from Musanze soil, ochres from the Virunga slopes, white from powdered limestone.
This piece marks a quiet turning point in her practice — her first canvas made entirely from materials she could trace back to their source.
